TeXcellence 5.0 brings Africa’s digital future into focus in Lagos

AI, digital payments and online tools are becoming part of everyday business, and TeXcellence 5.0 is bringing some of those conversations to Lagos on October 13.

The fifth edition of the conference will hold at the Landmark Event Centre under the theme “Accelerating Africa’s Digital Future.” The Lagos tech event is expected to bring together technology and business leaders to discuss how African companies can scale their businesses and make better use of technology.

One reason AI is getting so much attention is simple: it is no longer something people only hear about in tech news.

Businesses are already using AI tools to create content, analyse information, automate some tasks and help teams work faster. Digital tools have also changed how people pay for things, communicate with customers and run businesses.

That makes the Africa digital future conversation less abstract than it may sound.

TeXcellence 5.0 will also look at areas including digital payments, digital identity, technology infrastructure and other issues affecting Africa’s growing digital economy. The official event page lists keynote sessions, panel discussions, networking opportunities and live technology demonstrations among the activities planned for the conference.

For Lagos’ technology community, the event could be useful for more than simply hearing about the latest tools.

Startups and tech professionals can meet potential partners, learn about developments in the industry and hear from business leaders dealing with the challenges of growing technology companies. Business owners outside the traditional tech space can also pay attention to how tools such as AI and digital payments are changing the way companies work.

The organisers are also using the conference to focus on the bigger challenge of scaling African businesses and technology innovation to international markets.

That is an important part of the discussion. Having access to digital tools is one thing; using them to improve productivity and build businesses that can grow is another.

For young people working in technology, startups and digital businesses, conversations around AI, infrastructure and scaling can therefore have a direct connection to their careers and businesses.

TeXcellence 5.0 arrives at a time when technology is becoming harder to separate from everyday business. People may not describe themselves as “tech people”, but many now depend on digital payments, smartphones, online platforms and AI-powered tools.

That is what makes the Lagos tech event worth watching.

On October 13, the conversation will move beyond what technology can do and towards a bigger question: how can Africa make its digital growth useful, scalable and valuable for businesses and the people who depend on them?
