Tems to Executive Produce Children of Blood and Bone Soundtrack, Contribute Three Original Songs
Nigerian singer Tems is set to executive-produce and curate the soundtrack for Children of Blood and Bone, an upcoming Hollywood fantasy film, contributing three original songs to the production.
According to Punch Newspapers, the announcement was made on July 28, 2026, following the film’s trailer launch in New York. Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, confirmed her involvement in the project. Burna Boy will also serve as executive music consultant.
The appointment gives Tems a broader creative role in an international film production, extending her work beyond recording and performing music. Her three original songs are expected to feature in the film, although their titles and the complete soundtrack tracklist have not been announced.
Why the film matters to African audiences
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Children of Blood and Bone is based on the bestselling fantasy novel by Tomi Adeyemi. Set in the fictional kingdom of Orïsha, the story follows Zélie Adebola as she fights to restore magic stolen from her people.
Drawing inspiration from West African culture and mythology, the story brings African-rooted fantasy to a major international film production. Its soundtrack offers an opportunity to connect the film’s fictional world with contemporary African sounds and introduce more global audiences to Nigerian music.
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr also appears in the film, expanding her career into acting. Her involvement, alongside Tems and Burna Boy’s musical contributions, highlights the growing presence of Nigerian talent in international entertainment.
What this means for Tems’ career
For Tems, the project represents an important step in her international career. Executive-producing and curating a film soundtrack places her in a creative leadership position, allowing her to help shape the musical identity of a major motion picture.
The opportunity also demonstrates how Nigerian musicians are increasingly contributing to international film productions, taking their creativity beyond the traditional music industry and reaching new audiences through cinema.
According to Paramount Pictures, Children of Blood and Bone is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on January 15, 2027.
As anticipation builds, fans will be watching for further announcements about Tems’ three original songs and the film’s full soundtrack.
