Nigerian Breweries Brings Music and Football to Oktoberfest Across Nigeria
Nigerian Breweries Plc has kicked off its 2026 Oktoberfest celebrations, bringing a month-long programme of music, football, food, fashion and entertainment to cities across Nigeria.
The celebrations began on October 1 with Independence Day events in Ibadan and Abuja. According to Punch, the programme combines several of the company’s entertainment platforms into one calendar of activities running throughout October.
One of the main attractions is the Big Weekend Xperience, powered by Goldberg, Life and 33 Export. The events feature live music, DJ performances, local entertainers, games and consumer activities. The idea is to bring entertainment into communities rather than limit it to major concert venues.
The programme is scheduled to cover several locations across the country. After the opening celebrations in Ibadan and Abuja, events were held in Sagamu, Jos and Awka. Further activities were scheduled for Ondo, Makurdi and Owerri on October 11, followed by Lagos and Calabar on October 18. Lagos, Kaduna and Enugu are also listed for celebrations on October 25.
Football fans have their own attraction through Fanfest, which combines live match viewing with music, games, food and other activities. This offers supporters an opportunity to enjoy football in a social setting while participating in entertainment beyond the match itself.
Music lovers can also look forward to Roadblock, the Desperados event scheduled for October 17 at the THISDAY Dome in Abuja. Punch reported that the programme would feature DJs, including Spinall and DJ Big N, alongside other performers.
For residents in the participating cities, the events offer opportunities to meet friends, enjoy performances and take part in local entertainment. Anyone planning to attend should check official event announcements for the latest information about venues, admission and schedules.
The festival also illustrates why brands invest in live experiences. Traditional advertising can introduce a product to consumers, but events allow companies to engage people directly through entertainment, games and shared activities. Music and football, in particular, can attract audiences with different interests.
These events can also create opportunities for DJs, performers, vendors and event organisers. However, the actual economic benefits depend on participation and the businesses involved.
Nigerian Breweries is using Oktoberfest as part of its wider 2026 entertainment calendar, following its Big Fiesta programme and ahead of its planned Detty December activities.
As the celebrations continue, the key question for audiences is whether the programme will deliver accessible, enjoyable experiences in their communities. For the company, it is an opportunity to strengthen consumer engagement by connecting its brands with the music, sport and social activities that attract people throughout the country.
