The countdown is almost over, and Nigerian Dave fans who spent months asking the British-Nigerian rapper to bring his tour to Lagos are finally getting their wish.
Social media excitement is building ahead of the Dave Lagos concert, with fans sharing tour clips, lyrics, possible setlists and predictions about what could happen when the rapper takes the stage for his first-ever headline performances in Nigeria.
Dave, whose full name is David Omoregie, will perform at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, formerly the National Theatre, in Lagos on October 16 and 17, 2026. The two shows will close out his The Boy Who Played the Harp global tour. Dave’s official website currently lists both Lagos dates, with tickets still on sale.
Fans pushed for a Dave Nigeria show
Part of the excitement surrounding the Dave Nigeria show comes from how publicly fans campaigned for it.
When the original tour schedule was announced, Nigeria was missing from the list. According to NotJustOk, one Nigerian fan responded by launching a persistent campaign on X, posting every day to ask Santan Dave to add Nigeria to the tour.
The campaign continued as Dave travelled through other parts of the world and eventually announced African dates in South Africa.
Then came the moment Nigerian fans had been waiting for.
On the 102nd day of the fan's campaign, the Lagos dates were announced. Dave acknowledged the persistent supporter with a memorable response: “My brother. Your watch has ended.” He has also described the upcoming Lagos concerts as a “special homecoming.”
That interaction helped turn an ordinary tour announcement into a social media story. What began as fans repeatedly asking for a Lagos date became part of the narrative surrounding Dave’s arrival.
Why Dave’s Lagos concerts matter
The Lagos concert buzz is also significant because these are not simply additional dates on an international tour. They are Dave’s first headline shows in Nigeria and the final performances of a tour that has travelled across major international markets.
For Lagos, the concerts add to the city’s growing reputation as an important destination for major international and diaspora acts. The choice of the newly spotlighted Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts also puts one of Nigeria’s most iconic cultural venues back at the centre of a major contemporary music event.
There is a personal dimension too. Dave was born in London to Nigerian parents, while his music has repeatedly crossed paths with Nigeria’s contemporary music scene through collaborations with stars including Burna Boy and Tems.
With October 16 and 17 approaching, attention is now turning to the performances themselves — from the songs Dave will perform to the possibility of surprise guests.
For the fans who spent months posting, tagging and asking for Nigeria to be added, however, simply seeing Dave headline a Lagos stage may already feel like a win.
