Black Sherif lands major Telecel Ghana deal with Project X

Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has landed a major brand partnership with Telecel Ghana, becoming the face of its X Project, an initiative designed to connect the telecom company with younger consumers through music, digital services and customer rewards.

Announced on October 8, 2026, the partnership will see Black Sherif, also known as Blacko, help promote Telecel Cash and engage customers through activities planned over the next year. The campaign will include events, online activations and surprise rewards, making the collaboration more than a conventional celebrity endorsement.

According to Telecel Ghana, the initiative is intended to build stronger relationships with young customers while encouraging greater use of its mobile money and digital services.

What the X Project means for fans

The campaign will give fans opportunities to access rewards through Black Sherif’s online engagements. Customers can receive special BlackoCodes during his social media appearances, with rewards including discounts, free transactions, gifts and exclusive experiences.

The initiative will also involve the Telecel Play app and Telecel Cash wallets. Customers interested in participating will need to activate a Telecel Cash wallet, download the app and follow Black Sherif’s official social media accounts for campaign updates.

Telecel Ghana’s chief executive, Patricia Obo-Nai, said the partnership brings together a youthful brand and an artist whose story and authenticity resonate with young Ghanaians.

Black Sherif also welcomed the deal, saying he was excited to work with Telecel on an initiative intended to create opportunities and deliver value to customers and fans.

Why brands want music stars

The Black Sherif Telecel partnership reflects a wider marketing strategy in which companies work with musicians to reach audiences through more than traditional advertisements.

Artists already have communities of listeners who follow their music, performances and social media activity. A partnership can use that existing connection to introduce a brand’s products and services in ways that feel more interactive.

For a telecom company, working with a popular musician can help bring attention to digital services, encourage customers to try new features and make promotions easier to discover. For the artist, a brand deal can create another commercial opportunity alongside music releases, concerts and other ventures.

However, the value of a partnership ultimately depends on whether it delivers something useful to customers, rather than simply generating publicity.

What fans are likely to watch for

The announcement has given Black Sherif’s followers another reason to pay attention to his online updates. Beyond the branding itself, the campaign promises a series of rewards and activities throughout the year.

The official announcement does not establish a single fixed reward schedule, so fans will need to watch for details as individual activations are announced. Customers should also use Telecel’s official channels and avoid sharing passwords, PINs or passcodes with anyone claiming to offer campaign rewards.

With Project X, Black Sherif and Telecel Ghana are combining music influence with digital financial services. The campaign’s success will depend on how effectively that partnership turns the artist’s reach into meaningful experiences and benefits for customers.
