Bimbo and Timini wedding photos fooled plenty people
For a moment, it looked like Nollywood actors Bimbo Ademoye and Timini Egbuson had wedding news to share. Their romantic photos in bridal and groom outfits caught people’s attention online, but there was a twist: the pictures were part of a movie promotion.
The photos were created for My 30th Wedding, a romantic comedy written and produced by Ademoye. The film is streaming on her YouTube channel, Bimbo Ademoye TV, and the campaign gave the actors a chance to play with the idea of a wedding without announcing one in real life.
Why people believed the photos
The pictures had the details that usually make wedding announcements exciting. Ademoye appeared in an elaborate white bridal gown, while Egbuson wore a sharp black tuxedo. In other images, they switched to richly coloured traditional outfits inspired by Edo and Igbo styles.
The styling made the photos look convincing enough to spark questions about whether the pair were getting married. Their on-screen chemistry also helped make the idea believable to fans who enjoy seeing them together.
However, the actors were not announcing a real wedding. They clarified that the images were promotional material for My 30th Wedding, putting an end to the speculation surrounding the pictures.
The movie behind the photos
The film follows Aeta, an event planner approaching her 30th birthday, as she navigates a complicated relationship with her client, Leon Wellington, played by Egbuson. The story explores romance, class differences and the expectations placed on women around marriage and age.
That theme gives the campaign a natural connection to the story itself. Wedding photos invite people to wonder who is getting married, while the film uses that same curiosity to introduce its central characters and their relationship.
For a project built around romance and marriage, the photos also offered more than one look at the characters. The pair appeared in both Western-style bridal outfits and traditional wedding-inspired clothing, giving the promotional campaign a strong visual element.
Social media reactions
The reveal brought a mix of surprise, playful disappointment and excitement from people who had hoped the photos meant a real wedding. Legit.ng reported reactions from Instagram users after Ademoye clarified the situation.
One commenter, @enioluwaofficial, joked about the pair going straight to the altar, while another user pleaded for them to have a real wedding. Other commenters praised the pictures and their convincing wedding-style appearance.
The celebrity photos Nigeria audiences were sharing therefore became part of the film’s publicity, drawing attention before viewers even got into the story. It is a simple way to make people curious about a new release: let the images raise questions, then give the audience the explanation.
For Ademoye, who wrote and produced the film, the campaign puts her project in front of people who may not have been looking for a new movie. With Egbuson playing the male lead, the pair’s familiar screen presence gives audiences another reason to check it out.
In the end, there was no secret wedding to celebrate. The photos were a carefully styled introduction to My 30th Wedding—and the confusion around them helped get people talking about the film.
