## Alibaba, Funny Bone, Damola join Larry J for Lagos comedy show
Alibaba, Funny Bone, Damola and a strong lineup of Nigerian comedians came together as Larry J returned to the Lagos stage with a comedy show built around laughter, family entertainment and conversations that go beyond the punchlines.
Nigerian comedian and compere Olanrewaju Gregory, popularly known as Larry J, staged the show on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Terra Kulture, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to The Guardian Nigeria, veteran comedian Alibaba led the list of performers and guests, alongside Funny Bone, Damola, Ose, Oghene Oghene, Mr Paul and MC Wyse, among others.
Larry J puts a family-friendly spin on comedy
Beyond bringing familiar comedy names together, the Larry J comedy show was positioned as entertainment that audiences across different age groups could enjoy.
Larry J said ahead of the event that performers were expected to keep their material ethical, describing the production as a family-oriented comedy show for people from different walks of life.
The comedian also used humour to explore the sometimes difficult line between discipline and abuse in parenting. Rather than making the event purely about getting laughs, Larry J said the comedians would use jokes and relatable examples to communicate broader messages to the audience.
That approach is consistent with Larry J's previous productions. In December 2025, he staged another family-friendly comedy event at Eko Hotel and Suites, featuring performers including Kenny Blaq, Phronesis and Damola, with Alibaba appearing as a guest.
Why live comedy still attracts Lagos crowds
The Alibaba Funny Bone Lagos lineup also highlights why live comedy continues to hold a place in the city's entertainment culture.
While short comedy videos and skits dominate social media feeds, a live show offers something audiences cannot fully recreate on their phones: immediate interaction between comedians and the crowd, spontaneous reactions and the shared experience of hearing hundreds of people laugh at the same joke.
Established comedians also remain powerful draws. Alibaba has spent years as one of the defining figures in Nigerian stand-up comedy, while Funny Bone and other performers on the bill bring their own audiences and styles to the stage.
Lagos itself has a long history of turning comedy shows into major entertainment outings. Alibaba's January 1st Concert, for example, developed into a regular fixture on the city's events calendar, combining stand-up performances with celebrity appearances and other entertainment.
For audiences looking for an alternative to concerts, clubs and cinemas, the Lagos comedy event format remains a simple proposition: familiar faces, relatable Nigerian stories and a room full of people ready to laugh.
Larry J's latest gathering showed that even in the age of viral skits, there is still something special about delivering the punchline in front of a live Lagos audience.
